A passion for helping people glow

My journey into aesthetics didn't start in a clinic — it started with a feeling. The feeling of walking out of a spa and suddenly standing a little taller, smiling a little wider, and seeing yourself in a completely new way.

I wanted everyone to feel that. So I made it my life's work.

I started my aesthetics career in 2021, refining my skills through hands-on practice and ongoing training in injectable techniques, skin treatments, and aesthetic medicine. In 2026, I founded Essence by Shine to create a space that was different — warmer, more personal, more intentional. A place where your goals come first, and where you never feel like just another appointment on a busy calendar.

Every treatment I provide is guided by one principle: enhance what's already beautiful about you. Not a trend. Not a template. Just you — at your best.

Medical Director

All injectable and medical aesthetic treatments at Essence by Shine are performed under the supervision of a licensed physician in accordance with California state law.

Dr. Clifford Liu, MD — Medical Director, Essence by Shine
Background

Meet Dr. Clifford Liu, Medical Director for Essence by Shine. Dr. Liu brings over two decades of medical experience, leadership, and patient-centered care to the practice. Originally from Kansas City, Kansas, he completed both his undergraduate studies and medical degree through the prestigious six-year medical program at the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC).

Training & Hospital Career

He went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Southern California (USC) and has worked as a Hospitalist in Southern California for more than 20 years. Throughout his career, Dr. Liu has built a strong reputation for clinical excellence, patient safety, and compassionate care.

Aesthetic Medicine

In addition to his hospital medicine background, Dr. Liu has served as a Medical Director in the medical aesthetics and IV hydration industry for the past four years, overseeing multiple medical spa practices throughout California. His extensive experience in both traditional medicine and aesthetic medicine provides a strong foundation for safe, ethical, and results-driven treatments.
